The one tour in this niche we would book, and only because of Yangmingshan. Beitou itself you can do on a metro card for NT$80. The mountain is where the buses get awkward, and this tour turns three or four bus legs into a seat.

The foot-bath point matters more than it looks. People book a "Beitou hot springs tour" expecting to bathe, and this is feet-in-water at a public foot bath, which is free and available to anyone in Beitou Park. If bathing is why you are coming, budget a bath afterwards on top of the ticket.

So is $81 fair?
For two people that is about $81 each against roughly US$6 each on buses — a real gap, and you should feel it before booking.
What tips it, for a lot of visitors, is that the DIY mountain day is genuinely awkward rather than merely cheaper. There is no metro up Yangmingshan, the sights are spread across a large park, and the buses converge on a terminal rather than running between the places you want. On a short trip with one shot at good weather, handing that to someone else has real value.
Where we would not pay it: if you only want Beitou. The village is thirty minutes from Taipei Main on a metro card and the free sights are a ten-minute walk from the station. Paying $81 to be driven between three free things you could walk between is the single clearest waste in this niche.

The pattern in the feedback
Reading through the review base, one theme dominates and it is not the scenery. It is the guides. Reviewers name them — Walter, James, Christina, Raina, Sharon — and the praise is consistently about commentary, flexibility and local knowledge rather than the itinerary.
That tells you something useful and something risky. Useful: the operator is fielding good guides consistently enough that 375 reviews average 4.6. Risky: your day depends more on which guide you get than on the route, and you cannot choose.
The second theme is weather flexibility — several reviewers mention itineraries being reordered around cloud and rain. On a mountain that makes its own weather, a guide who reshuffles the day is worth more than a fixed schedule.
What we did not find: complaints about the price, or people saying they felt cheated. What we did find, and what matches our own reading of the itinerary, is that nobody describes this as a hot spring bathing experience. It is a mountain day with a foot bath.

Book it if
- You want Yangmingshan and have no car. This is the whole argument, and it is a good one.
- You have one day and one shot at the weather. A guide who reorders the route around cloud is worth real money.
- You are two or more. The per-person cost stops feeling absurd against the hassle saved.
- You want commentary. The review base says the guides deliver it.
Skip it if
- You only want Beitou. NT$80 of metro does it better and leaves money for a real bath.
- You came to soak. A foot bath is not a hot spring bath. Book a bath separately either way.
- You use a wheelchair. The operator states the tour is not suitable.
- The forecast is thick cloud. Xiaoyoukeng in cloud is a car park and a smell, and it is the best stop on the route.

This tour pays us more than anything else on the site. It is the most expensive product we recommend and the one with the most traffic pointed at it. A page that says "yes, book the $81 thing" is exactly what you would expect us to write.
So weigh the two sentences we would rather not write. Three of the eight stops are free sights you can walk to from the metro. And the "hot spring" in the title is a foot bath. Both are in the itinerary table above rather than buried here.
If you take one thing from this page: the tour is worth it for Yangmingshan, and it is poor value if Beitou is all you want. That is the same conclusion we would reach if we were paid nothing.
