Beitou public hot springs, from NT$60
Public bathing in Beitou splits into two worlds that share a name. One is co-ed, swimsuit-and-swim-cap, terraced pools under the trees. The other is single-sex, entirely nude, tiled, and older than most of the hotels around it. Both are cheap. Turning up at the wrong one with the wrong clothes is the single most common mistake visitors make here.
The short answer
NT$60 at the city's Millennium pool, NT$150 at Longnice, NT$550–800 at the resort bathhouses. Co-ed pools need a swimsuit and a swim cap; traditional bathhouses are nude and sex-segregated. Nobody takes reservations — you pay at the counter and walk in.

Cheapest first. "Dress" tells you the thing that actually gets people turned away at the door. Door prices are cash-friendly; where a venue also sells online, the online price is usually lower.

NT$ figures are counter tariffs from venue and city sources; USD figures are live pre-booked voucher prices from our booking partner, snapshot August 2026. Where both exist the gap is real — Spring City is NT$800 at the counter against roughly $17.15 booked ahead.
Field correction — the NT$60 pool, and what we can actually verify
Is Beitou Public Hot Spring open again?
Still closed, and the finish date moved again — to 26 September 2026. The Millennium Hot Spring (千禧湯) shut on 24 January 2025 for its first full rebuild in 25 years. The press reported a completion date of 28 July 2026, and most guides still repeat it. That date passed.
On 29 July 2026 — the day after — the Taipei Parks and Street Lights Office, which actually operates the pool, updated its own FAQ to read: 「本館於114年1月24日起暫停營業,規劃進行整建工程,工程預計至115年9月26日完成,後續開放日期於官網公布為主。」 — closed since 24 January 2025, works now expected to finish 26 September 2026, opening date to be announced separately.
Read that last clause carefully. Completion is not opening. The office commits to finishing the building work by 26 September and says the opening date will be published afterwards. Anyone telling you the pool opens on 26 September is reading a construction milestone as a booking date. We are not going to do that.
What it will cost when it does open. The same tariff is still posted: NT$60 full, NT$30 concession, free for over-65s in the 08:00–10:00 session, across six sessions from 05:30 to 22:00. Swimsuit and swim cap, both enforced.
What to do until then. Every other bath on this page stayed open throughout. The nearest substitute for the same open-air experience is Spring City's terraced pools ($17.15 booked ahead against NT$800 at the door) or Nan Fung by the station at $21.39.

The two worlds · 02 — the mistake everyone makes
Nude bathhouse or swimsuit pool
Both are called "public hot springs" in English. They are completely different rooms with completely different rules, and the price tells you almost nothing about which is which.
SWIMSUIT · CO-ED
Where: the Millennium pool, Spring City's outdoor terraces, Shan Yue, Wellspring, Nan Fung's main hall, most resort day-use.
Rules: swimsuit required — not underwear, not board shorts, and at the city pool not a bikini either. A swim cap is mandatory and enforced; buy one at the door for about NT$100 if you forgot. Shower before you get in.
Feels like: a public pool that happens to be 40°C, with families, retirees and a lifeguard's whistle. Photography is usually banned.
Choose it if you're travelling as a mixed group, you want the open-air terraces, or the idea of undressing in front of strangers ends the conversation.
NUDE · SINGLE-SEX
Where: Longnice, the nude wings at Nan Fung, Spring City's Pavilion Club, Villa 32's baths.
Rules: completely nude — swimwear is banned, not optional. Men and women bathe in separate halls. Wash thoroughly at the stool showers before entering the water; this is the rule locals actually care about. Tattoo policy is at staff discretion.
Feels like: quiet, hot, and entirely unremarkable to everyone but you. Nobody looks. Longnice in particular is a working neighbourhood bath, not an attraction.
Choose it if you want the real thing, you're travelling alone or same-sex, and you can accept that "no photos" means the memory is all you get.

The best public hot springs in Beitou
Chosen for what they do best, not for what they pay us — the free one at the bottom of this page pays nothing at all.

Spring City Resort
Nine terraced outdoor pools, 09:00–22:00, free shuttle from the MRT, towels and robes included. The closest thing to the Millennium experience while the city pool's status is unclear — and open far later.

Nan Fung International (Beitou Hot Springs Resort)
Three minutes on foot from Xinbeitou station, so it survives rain, tired legs and a tight afternoon. Co-ed swimsuit hall plus separate nude wings, meaning one venue covers a group that can't agree.

Shan Yue Hot Spring Resort
Resort water at close to bathhouse money. Not the prettiest setting in the valley, but the cheapest way to sit in a proper hot spring pool with a locker and a towel rather than a plastic bag.
Against our own interest — when to skip the public bath
Three reasons to spend the money elsewhere
You have visible tattoos. Co-ed swimsuit pools generally don't care about small ink. Traditional nude bathhouses decide at the counter, and being turned away naked-adjacent is a bad afternoon. A private room removes the question for NT$400.
It's a winter Saturday after 15:00. That is when every public bath in the valley fills with people who live here and know the same thing you do. Weekday mornings are a different, better place. If the weekend is all you have, book a room instead of queueing for a pool.
You want photographs. Almost every public bath in Beitou bans cameras inside, for obvious reasons. If the point of your visit is the picture, the free Thermal Valley and the 1913 Museum give you the steam without the awkwardness — both cost nothing.
The honest sequence for a first visit is a free foot bath, then one paid public pool, then decide. That's under NT$250 before lunch. The half-day plan that does it →
Questions · 04 — asked at the counter
Beitou public hot springs — straight answers
What is the entrance fee for Beitou hot springs?
NT$60 at the city's Millennium pool, NT$150 at the historic Longnice bathhouse, and roughly NT$500–800 at resort bathhouses — where booking online is usually cheaper than the counter. Thermal Valley, the Hot Spring Museum and the park foot baths are free.
Is Beitou Public Hot Spring closed?
It closed on 24 January 2025 for its first full rebuild in 25 years. The completion date reported in the press was 28 July 2026; on 29 July 2026 the Taipei Parks and Street Lights Office, which operates the pool, updated its own FAQ to say the works are now expected to finish 26 September 2026, with the opening date to be announced separately afterwards. Completion is not the same as opening, so treat 26 September as a construction milestone rather than a date you can plan around. The posted tariff for when it does reopen is NT$60 full, NT$30 concession, six sessions from 05:30 to 22:00.
Do I need a swim cap in Beitou?
Yes, at every co-ed swimsuit pool including the Millennium pool, and it is enforced at the gate. Caps cost about NT$100 at the door. Nude single-sex bathhouses don't require one, since you won't be wearing anything at all.
Can I wear a bikini at Beitou public hot springs?
Not at the city pool, which specifies a plain swimsuit — no bikinis, no underwear, no board shorts. Resort pools are more relaxed about swimsuit style but still require a cap. When in doubt, a one-piece and a cap gets you into everything.
Which Beitou hot springs are nude?
Longnice, the separate men's and women's wings at Nan Fung, Spring City's Pavilion Club, and Villa 32's baths. All are single-sex, swimwear is banned rather than optional, and you wash at the shower stools before entering the water.
Are Beitou public hot springs mixed-sex?
The swimsuit pools are, and that's the whole reason they exist. Nude bathing in Taiwan is always separated by sex — there is no co-ed nude option in Beitou. Couples who want to bathe together book a private room.
Do public baths in Beitou take bookings?
No — walk in, pay, change. Pre-paid vouchers exist for the resort bathhouses and are usually cheaper than the door price, but they buy you a price, not a time slot. The city pool runs six fixed sessions a day and empties between them.
What do I need to bring to a public bath?
Swimsuit, swim cap, towel and cash. Resorts supply towels, lockers and toiletries; the city pool supplies free showers and lockers but nothing else. Leave the camera in the bag — photography is banned inside almost every bath here. Full checklist.
Can children use Beitou public hot springs?
Yes at most co-ed pools, and Spring City lets children under 110 cm in free. Villa 32 is adults only. Hot spring water at 40°C+ is hard on small children, so keep dips short and cool — or take a private room where you control the temperature. More on visiting with kids.
What time do Beitou public hot springs open?
Spring City's outdoor pools run 09:00–22:00. The city's Millennium pool historically ran six sessions from 05:30 to 22:00, with the baths cleared between each. Most bathhouses open daily from morning to late evening; the free Thermal Valley and Museum, by contrast, close on Mondays.
