How much Beitou hot springs actually costs
Beitou is one of the cheapest genuinely famous things you can do in Taipei, and also one where the price range is enormous — the same sulfur water costs NT$60 in a city pool and $67.59 at Villa 32. Everything below is a real tariff, not an estimate, with the exchange rate and the date it was checked.

Five ways to spend less in Beitou
Against our own interest — where spending more is pointless
The upgrades that don't buy you a better soak
Expensive does not mean hotter or more mineral. Beitou's venues largely draw from the same white sulfur supply. What $67.59 buys at Villa 32 over NT$60 at the city pool is architecture, quiet, robes and the absence of other people — a real product, but not better water.
The mid-range is where the curve flattens. Somewhere around NT$500–1,000 you get clean facilities, towels, lockers and a pleasant room. Above that you're buying design and exclusivity, and the marginal pleasure per NT$ falls off a cliff.
Free is genuinely good here. Thermal Valley steaming at 80–100°C, a restored 1913 bathhouse and public foot baths where locals actually sit — three of Beitou's best experiences cost nothing, and a visitor who only did those and one NT$60 soak would not be missing the point.

Is Beitou expensive?
No, unless you choose to make it so. The gap between the cheapest and most expensive soak in the same village is about thirty-fold, and the cheap end is genuinely good. A half day here costs less than a museum ticket in most capital cities.
How much is the MRT to Beitou?
Roughly NT$40 each way from Taipei Main, so NT$80 return. Taipei's metro is distance-based between NT$20 and NT$65, and an EasyCard costs the same as a paper ticket.

Usually, and sometimes dramatically — Spring City is NT$800 at the counter against roughly $17.15 pre-booked. The city pool and the old bathhouses have no online sale at all; you pay cash at the door.
